There was another kind of a Beggarman. He did not beg. He was able to play some musical instrument. He played at the cross road dances. When the crossroad dance was over they usually made a collection for him.
There were robbers in Ireland long ago. They usually lived in a lonely place. They always attacked a rich person. There was one living in Parke. The people called him the Highwayman. One night he plundered and robbed a poor farmer. This farmer sold cattle at the fair and he heard of it. It is said that before he died he buried his loot in a hill in Parke.
Long ago wildmen lived in the forests and woods. They lived a very wild life. Sometimes they attacked and killed the people. One lived in the wood in Clonberne. He was captured by the guards.
The gipsys is a foreign tribe of people. Long ago they were very plentiful in Ireland. They pretended that they were great fortune-tellers.
