  1. Chair-making
    Chair-making was one of the principal industries in the country homes of this district long ago.
    First bundles of sally rods were got, then in the long winter nights the men used to get four strong sticks which were left over the fire for a time to make them hard.
    These were fastened together with two lights sticks. Then sally rods were woven in and out until the chair was finished.
