  1. About a mile from Gort in a place called Newtown Barry's land, there is an old fort covered with bushes, and a small opening to it that only a dog could get through. It was always a good place for rabbits.
In Gort lived a man who had a farm about three miles from this fort. He kept a white horse, and the horse was let out on the grass every evening after his hard days work. He was let out one evening, and when the man went for him he was gone. The owner having made inquiries about twelve miles every side of the town, offered a reward to whoever would give him tidings.
One day another man was hunting in the fort, and he saw the horses head. He tried to find out how he got in, but there was only the same small opening. It took the men three days to get out the horse. Afterwords it was said that the fairies took him in.
