    Houses were more numerous in former times. Ruins of houses (old cabhails) as they are called) to be met with here as elsewhere, remind us of the time "when every road of ground, maintained its man," and where our population was double what it now is.

  2. The Church
    It is cruciform in shape and is built on the site of an old thatched chapel. Kiltartan was a separate parish till about 1850, when it was united to Kilmacduagh, to form the present parish of Gort. The parochial clergy, of whom there are three, live in Gort.
