- Marriages take place at nearly all times in my district, but the greater number of them take place from Saint Stephens Day to Shrove Tuesday. There are two months of the year which are considered unlucky for marriages and they are May and July. The usual wedding-days in my district are Wednesdays and Saturdays.
There is an old rhyme relating to days for marriages. The rhyme is
Monday for health,
Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all,
Thursday for losses,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
