    On Twelfth Eve, the people used rush candles. About a week beforehand the rushes were got and put over the fire to dry. When they were well dry, they were peeled. Lard was melted, and the rushes were dipped in the grease. Then on Twelfth Eve, the people lit those.
    On Saint Brigid's Eve, the boys used to go about collecting money in honour of Saint Brigid. The farmer used to get a potato and a straw with a grain of oats on it, and put them on a stick until the time
