    There was often a barrel of water left slantwise against the door, so that when the door would be opened, the barrel of water would fall in around the house and wet it all. This custom is not a nice one, either.

  2. The people nowadays are not as good for carrying on the customs at certain feasts as the people were some years ago. There are some of the customs still preserved at certain feasts such as on Christmas Eve, St. Stephen's Day, New Year's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Hallow Eve.
