The story is told of robbers who long ago
went to rob a house in Garramana now
owned by Newel The master and Mrs were
gone from home, and left a boy and girl
in charge of the house. One of the robbers
went early in the day to the house to spy, and asked the girl for a drink later that evening the girl went to the well for water and spied those robbers. They were not going to let her back and were going to kill her but one said, she gave him the drink.
When she returned she told the boy whose name was: Martyne, he got a knife and spent the rest of the evening sharpening it, when night came the robbers demanded to be let in, Martyne stood behind the door and only allowed one in at a time, and kept sticking them with the knife till they were hardly able to get away, it is said there guns were hanging out, and one or two is supposed to be buried under(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
