“A great feast was once prepared for the Kings of Munster and Connaught and their friends.”
During the night which was one of great enjoyment, the King of Munster told the King of Connaught that he could ask him for one request and that if it were in his power he would grant it to him. The King of Connaught asked him to give him Killarney forever. The Munster King granted it to him and pretended he was not at all displeased. The Connaught King then allowed the King of Munster to ask him for a request. Great was his disappointment when the Munster King asked Killarney back again. Such bargaining is ever since spoken of us :
