- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)lamenting over the loss of their husbands. There was nothing but lamentation around the whole place, and it was given the name 'Craugh', which means 'grief'. There is a population of fifty one people, between big people and children. There are eleven houses, and most of them are slated. Only three houses are thatched. The thatched houses are owned by Mrs. Cooke, Mrs. Ogle and Mr. Mitchell.Thirty years ago, Craugh was larger than it is now. There were more houses and more people in it. Some of the ruins of the old houses are still to be seen. There is a fair amount of good land in it. Some of it is hilly, and some is boggy.Craugh is a small townland.(Caroline Larkin, Craugh)
