- There was once a man reaping corn in a field with a reaping hook and as he was cutting a hare jumped out of the corn but the man let it off. The following day however it jumped out again and the man fired the hook at it stuck in its leg. It ran off with it and as the man had no other hook he had to give up cutting the corn.Six years afterwards the man went to a fair which was held in Spiddle. He went into a house and he asked the mistress if she would give him lodging for the night. She said that she would and welcome.When he was going to bed he saw something up in the ceiling.
