  1. Birds when taken notice of have their own peculiar habits, some of which are very sensible. One can often judge the weather by their behaviour.
When the robin hops along the ground it predicts snow.
When the swallows fly low - rain.
High - fine weather. When a seagull alights on a roof we will have rain.
Some swallows have landed but not many. The first I saw this year was one and "One swallow will never make a Summer."
As well as the swallow, the cuckoo, and corncrake emigrate from this district.
I have taken notice of a starling's nest which is at the eave of our house, and it is there for seven years. The starling when singing always chooses one particular branch on a sycamore.
My next nest is that of a blackbird, whic is a very shy bird.
