This saint's day is on the eleventh of November. In some parts of the district the house in which the cows are kept is called "the cowshed" and in other parts it is called "the byre". Very often a horse-shoe is hung over the cows shed door to bring luck to the animals within. The horshoe points downwards. Very often a picture of the Sacred Heart is hung over the door of the byre. This is done to keep away all harm from the byre during the year. The cows are tied by the neck to a manger
