In the legends of Mulhuddart we are told that there were some soldiers murdered in the Old Church. There had been a battle and the pursued soldiers took refuge in the church. The people of the village came upon them and murdered the soldiers. Among the murderes was a man named Cummins whose decendants are still plentiful around the village.

There was once a dance in Huntstown House and many carriages were outside the gate. There was a man left outside to mind them. Mr. Caffrey was sent for candles. On his way home he noticed a carriage drawn by four white horses. When he arrived at the place where the others were he asked the keeper did he (h) see the carriage but he answered No. It was a fairy carriage that went up the avenue.
