    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    We sow potatoes in drills. First the ground is ploughed, then harrowed and rooled and then drilled. Then there is a good dressing of stable manure or artificial manure put on them. Then the slits are spread about a foot apart to leave room for the potatoes to grow. Then the drills are split in too and the slits are covered then. Some people sow the potatoes in ridges.
    In some parts of the country the people sow the potatoes with the stivin. First they stick them with the stivin and then the holes are closed with the clay. The ploughs that are used nowadays are made of steel, but they used wooden ploughs long ago, when sowing their crops.
    There are many different varieties of potatoes. Some of them are very bad seed which are Kerry-pints and Queens. Every-one likes the Champion seed as it produces very good crops.
