21-2-38 - Graveyards
There are three graveyards in Achil, there is one at Slievemore, one at Kildownet and one at Bunnacurry.
Kildownet is the oldest graveyard in Achill because all the people in Achill who died were buried there. When people were bringing a corpse from Lower Achill they would cross "Mineán", and wherever they rested they made a pile of stones and left a big flag of stone on the other stones. There is a big tomb stone at Kildownet in memory of the people who were drowned in Clew Bay.
There is a big tomb stone back at the Cove of Derk on Slievemore hill, and there is an old house back(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
