    "BANVILLE" = meitheall in Irish. I have not heard any word like this in Irish. I am of opinion it is of Scotch origin.

    = It was ungrateful of you
    "Common" is the phonetic remnant of comaoin meaning obligation. "Taim faoi comaoin agat" = I am under an obligation to you

    He will be here "GAIN" - a while = after a while "gain" in this expression is the phonetic rendering of "i gcionn" e.g. beidh sé annseo igCIONN tamaill

    "TRAWN" in the saying Isn't he "thrawn" meaning isn't he "contrary" in the sense of contentious.

    DUTHCHAS - "That's a duthchas in him" said of some trait or characteristic inherent in a man

    SPRUDHOG - Take in some sprudhogs and put them in the fire
    = Sod - This word has the same meaning as cadhran in other parts of Donegal

    PRÁCAS - This word evidently means a mixture a mess

    "FAIRIN" = féirin In this locality it is used in this way - What fairin are you going to bring from the fair - meaning sweets or the like.

    EIREOG - meaning a chicken (female)

    SMUR - We are going to have a "smur" of rain meaning some light rain. In these parts of Donegal they say smuran fearthainne meaning light rain
