- There was a school in Malin about 60 or 65 years of ago. A man named Houston taught in it. Next came a man named Scott who died about beginning of this century (a daughter of his is the present Mrs Mundell of the Post Office in Malin). There was a post office in the school also.
The house was two stories high. The Post Office was downstairs and the school upstairs. Later on they started a night school for those who could not attend the day school.
Sometimes there were thirty pupils at the school and sometimes not more than twenty.
The house where this school was held is still standing at the north end of Andrew McGonigles business place.
About 15 years after this the present school was built.
There was a school up in Tully taught by a Master Diver. This school was in a barn. The usual attendance was about ten pupils. Master Diver's income was not more than £5 or £6 per year.
