    The potato crop - making ready the ground.
    My father sets potatoes every year. This is how he makes ready the ground. He ploughs the field first and this takes him about three days. When he has that done he harrows it well and then he opens the drills.

  2. The Spreading of the Manure

    When the drills are made the cart is taken to the manure heap. The man fills the cart and then returns to the field. He puts a third of it down the drill each about ten years a part.
    He then takes a grasp full out of the first heap and shakes it lightly down the drill because he wants to make it reach the next heap. He goes on like this until he has the field finished. While the men are spreading the manure another man is cutting the seed.
