- On the 19th day of October last from New York we did set sail
On board the gallant Cambria with a sweet and pleasant gale.
Ten nights and days we ploughed the seas
No danger did we fear.
Until our native Irish coast on sight it did appear.
Each heart seemed glad not one seemed sad as our vessel cut the foam.
We will shortly see our loving friends on Eireann's lovely home.
Down below each man did go
To wait for morning clear.
When a dreadful shock against a rock that filled our hearts with fear.
Fore and aft our sea man raced while fiercely roared the tide.
Instantly four boats were launched rowed out along our side.
The ship Cambria she was sinking fast far far from earthly air
The Rev. Father Bradley on deck he knelt and prayed.
Come rise your voise to God he says our precious lives to save
Pray for our native followers that sank beneath the wave.
Women on the crowded deck each mother clasped her child.
