  1. A man named Callaghan lived in Glenagannon. He had a field with a big rock in it and close by the rock was a hedge. Every evening the fairies danced around this big rock. One day the owner Callaghan said he was going to take away the rock and the hedge. A priest who lived in the town told him not to interfere with the rock. Soon after Callaghan began to cut the hedge and a swarm of "whitrets" came out. The man began to throw stones at them to frighten them away. One of the whitrets put its tail in its mouth and began to whistle and in less than a minute there were thousands of "whitrets". The man went away frightened and told his story and the priest said it was the fairies that sent them.
    On the next night a girl named Nancy Harkin went to the well for water. When she went out she was met by two men who took her with them. In half an hour her father
