- The Local Fairs
The customs of long ago were dear ones in the eyes of people of to-day.
Two of the more prominent of these were, "The Lough Lily Fair, and the Bilberry Fair.
The Lough Lily fair takes place on the first Sunday of July, and then it is continued by entertainments such as dancing and singing which takes place in a house called Willie McElhinney's or "Billy's". The lillies are of a yellowish colour, and also grow inwards from the, edge of the Lough.
This lough was believed to be made by the work of an earth-quake. Once it occurred and it is supposed that the ground went down and water came up. The bottom of this lough, is also said to be bad and corrupting. The "Glen Fair" as(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
