The man of the house walks around outside with a bunch of rushes and straw. He said "go on your knees and open your eyes and let in St. Bridgid"
The people inside would answer "Se do beara"
The sheaf of rushes and straw was placed under the table while the people ate "Poundies" butter, and oaten bread.
Then they made the crosses and put them in a creel and shook holy water on them Everyone in the house then put something belonging to them in the creel such as socks, waistcoats etc. The mother put in a clew of yarn and anyone sick during that year their socks would be darned with that clew.
Every article put in was called bracog Brigde.
The creel was then hung outside of the kitchen door all night. Then took it in next morning and put up crosses.
Everyone took out their own article in the morning.
In Ballyhig the crosses were made and placed on floor around the pot of "poundies". The people of the house sat around the pot each with a spoon and ate from pot.
