- Long ago the old people did not cart their corn to the mills, but this is what they did with it.
First of all the cut it, and took it to the house, and threshed it with a flail in a little house.
When they had this done all the corn would be on the floor, and they would put it in bags.
Then they would spread a large cover on the ground outside and take out the bags of corn, and take out some of it, and hold it up hight so that the chaff would blow away and the corn would be on the cover.
Then they would get a large pot, and hang it on the crook near the fire, and fill this pot with corn to dry it, for if any of it was wet they could not grind it.
When the corn was dry they would take it into a house outside, and they would get two stones called querns or grindstones.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
