- In the Penal days the Irish priests and monks had to say their Masses in fields and woods unknown to the soldiers and robbers.
One day a priest and his followers was saying Mass in the Abbey wood in the townland of Drumboe. The priest asked his followers for a match to light a candle, but the had none. He broke a branch of a tree near by, and stuck it on a rock. Immediately the branch lit; also the water began to flow from the rock and it formed a holy well which is in the Abbey wood to the present day.Tras-scríofa ag duine dár meitheal tras-scríbhneoirí deonacha.
