- Macamish Fort is situated on the banks of Lough Swilly. It was built in the year 1803 by the English Government. It is about 40 feet high.At the entrance to the fort there is a drawbridge and when the soldiers were all in at night it was lifted. Then there was no danger of it being burned by enemies.There is a wall built all round the fort and there was a stone lying on top of it; with some of the names of the soldiers carved(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
