  1. Subhead 10. Irish forms of surnames in district.
    The most common Irish surnames are:-
    Deeny, Sheridan, Friel, Mc Collum, Doherty, Gallagher, Mc Laughlin, Coll.
    Three rather uncommon Irish surnames found here are Shovlin, Tinney & Toye. I have heard the opinion expressed that Shovlin is a form of Sullivan.
    Certain non-Irish surnames are fairly common e.g. Anderson, Molseed, Morrison.
