  1. About two and a half centuries ago a battle was fought near the little bridge entering Letterkenny and it was known as the Battle of Sprigburn. Shortly after this battle a "black pig" was seen crossing Lifford Bridge. It was seen off and on again till it reached Letterkenny but it did not stop there. It was said that it passed on the outskirts of Ramelton, later seen making its way through this district, past Milford. It was last seen near Fanad. The line or route this clever pig took is known as the Valley of
