   Around here it is very popular to tell ghosts stories or stories about fairies or banshees.
   I know that all the old women around Cranford believe that there are such things as ghosts and banshees. Old Mrs Duffy who lives across the way from us loves telling stories and she would laugh at you if you told her that you did not believe in fairies.
   She says that there walks an old woman from the foot of our lane to the "Spring Well" every night about mid-night and that she has chains trailing from her.
