- The local fairs are held in Letterkenny and Kilmacrenan. And there are a good many fairs in other places also, and their names are Rathmelton, Creeslough, Carrigart, Glenties and Milford.Fairs are nearly always held in towns. Sometimes some of the people make bargains in the country.Fairs are not held in the street, they are held in a special place, and every animal has its own place to be sold in.
When the people sell the animals they get money back and it is called "luck's money".
When the people are making bargains they strike hands or sometimes they spit.When you sell a sheep you put a mark on its back or on its side.When a man or anybody sells a horse it is said that if you do not give away the halter or the rope you will have no luck, and if you give away you will have luck.
