- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)There used to be articles knit and they were called "martins". They were to keep the feet warm. There were no soles in them but there was a loop on them which went over the great toe to keep them down on the feet. These were worn mostly by people who were herding.
- Long ago people went barefooted the whole year round except on Sunday. They had a pair of shoes for going to church with but when they came out they took them off because they did not want to "waste" them. Most of the children go barefooted in summer and some of them go barefooted the whole year round.
