- In the townland of Lisdonnelly, in the parish of Gartan some years ago there lived a man, whose name was Noble McConnell. His daughter and family still reside here. He was the seventh successive son of a family, therefore he could cure that dreadful disease which we call evil.
He had to rub the sick person three Monday mornings in succession with a sixpence before sunrise, and then he gradually recovered. Noble McConnell took the coin from his own purse, and used it in rubbing the sore spot, but on the third Monday he gave it to the invalid, who had to keep it in his possession as long as he lived. If he lost it, the disease would appear again.
If this man rubbed on any other day except Monday, his power to cure would be lost for ever. The man who told me this story,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
