A man named Neil Connaghan, who lived in the townland of Carrowtrasna in the parish of Gartan, but who is now residing in England, can cure a burn. When he was a little boy, he licked a lizard. He had to lift it in his two hands and lick it three times. When this was done, he received the power to cure a burn and will have it until his death.
The person who tries to acquire this power, to heal, runs a great risk because the lizard is likely to jump into the open mouth. If this should happen, he will then have to swallow a great quantity of salt, and lie beside a pool of water till it comes up.
