- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)fire would not light. Usually the fire kiln is lit at night fall and whoever lights it has to sit up all night incase of anything going on fire. First a half cart of clods is put into the kiln then three feet of lime. Then more turf is put on the top of that and then another layer of lime is put on the top of the turf. The rest of the turf is put on the top of that. Then it is let burn away all night and if the fire gets too strong there are green sods put on the top of it.
