- When St. Naill was in search of Colm Cille he found him in a little spot where the river Eidhnighe enters the sea.
The day that Naill came to Inver Colm Cille prophesied; "This day there shall come to us a holy man, Naill, son of the King of Munster, with the angles of God along with him; and I shall give him this land and we two shall bless it and from him it shall have its name for ever".
That same day Naill arrived. He fell on his knees before Colm Cille and asked him where he should get land whereon he might build a dwelling and a Church in which he might praise God. "In this very place", said Colm Cille. Naill built a little church there and he and Colm Cille blessed it and that place got the name Inver Naile ever since. Naill and his fellow monks lived there (and) but the monastery was destroyed at the time of the plantation of Ulster in 1609. The monks that were living in Inver Naile at that time went to live in Dysart and they lived a happy and peaceful life beneath the shadows of Carn a Maoin, for a time.
