    I'm leaving home for Africa,
    I'm going to emigrate,
    I'll bid adieu to Ireland,
    And the spot that I adore,
    That spot, beside the Abbey gate,
    Which overlooks the shore.

    Brothers, sweetheart, sisters fair,
    I know they'll often think of me,
    And for me breath a prayer,
    And I will often think of them,
    Though in a foreign land,
    I'll be back with them in spirit,
    Near the Bay, and Donegal strand.
