  1. During the Penal Days in Ireland when there was a price on a priests head, and when Mass had to be said in little lanes and in the fields, many priests were killed. When the priests were reading Mass sometimes the English soldiers would come to kill them, and the priests would have to flee, and often they buried the chalices.
