    Rubbing a black snail on warts is supposed to be a cure. After the snail is rubbed on, it is put on a thorn bush and when the snail withers away the wart is supposed to go away.

    If a man and his wife are of the same surname it is supposed that one child of theirs has a charm to cure mumps.
    To put a pair of winkers on the person who has the mumps and lead them to a stream running south is supposed to be a cure.

    Boiled sugar and buttermilk is supposed to be a cure for a cold.
    Stye on the eye.
    It is supposed that if you prick a stye on your eye nine times with nine different gooseberry thorns that it will cure it.
