  1. Once upon a time a man was complaining to his friends how unlucky he was, and how badly fortune had treated him.
“Providence”, he cried out. “has given some riches, others high station in life and I nothing.”
He said it was impossible for him to get on when he had no money.
An old grey haired man over heard this story and asked him was he as poor as he declaired to be and also asked had God not given him Youth and Health.
“What if he did,” said the man. “Without money what are my health and youth worth.”
The old man was silent for a moment and taking the poor man's hand asked him would he cut it off. The poor man drew back his hand and said “no.”
He asked him then would he cut off his left hand and the poor man said “not for thousands.
The old man asked him then why did he say he owned nothing of value and said when God had given him Life and Health, Youth and Strength and was it not enough.
