  1. In the days before the railway when men had to cart meal and flour and provisions from Derry and Sligo it is told that these men performed some great feats of walking and and sack lifting.

    One man named Billy McCaulay who lived about fifty years ago could lift two sacks (each two hundred weight) and take one under each arm. This same man walked to Derry and back in the same day A distance of one hundred and twenty miles.
