  1. There are three forges in this parish. Two of the smiths are brothers and their names are Lyons and the other is Carson. Their people were smiths for many years
    One forge is in College Street, one in Tirconail Street and the other is in West Port.
    The one in Tirconail Street is situated near the fair green and he does a lot of trade.
    There is only one apartment in the forge, the fire is at the top and the bellows are at the side of the fire, and there is a long wooden shaft on them. When they want to get the iron red they push the shaft up and down.
    The smith sometimes shoes horses outside the forge door, he also bends iron in a field or yard opposite the forge when he is making shoeing for the wheels of a cart.
    Lots of people go to the forge to get water to cure warts and
