- 1. Marbles. Marbles are played in February. There are three games, “H’s,” “Rings” and “Follow-Taw.” In “H’s” the marbles are placed about two inches from a wall. The as many lines are drawn, at different distances from the marbles, as there are marbles. These lines are called “Pinks”. A “Bulking” line is drawn about six inches from the marbles and the taw, when thrown, must hop between it and the marbles if they are to be won. When it hops anywhere else the shot is called a “dribble.” Person who says “Sunday” gets first shot and then “Monday” etc. Any number can play.In “Rings” a ring, about seven inches in diameter, is drawn. Then two parallel lines, called “bars” about ten yards apart and equidistant from the ring, are drawn. The marbles are put in the ring. Taws or marbles can be hit but the last marble cannot be knocked out until one taw is hit. When a taw is hit its owner is out of the game.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
