    candle was left standing in it till it burned away.
    Kelp was collected for soap making and iodine. It was also used for manuring the land.
    Baskets were made from “sallies” woven together. They were semi-circular in shape and held a few stone of potatoes.
    Ropes - only straw ropes were made. These were from thirty to forty yards long and were used for thatching hay stacks, ect.
    Ploughs were made of wood. These were made by the “local handyman”. Wooden spoons, noggins (which were made of wood) wheels and wooden dishes were made.
    In some places tumblers were made from cow’s horns. Mr. Early has one such in his possession.
