  1. On Christmas Eve, approximately thirty five years ago, an Norwegian Barque, named the Palm anchored in Dublin Bay during a fierce storm. Coast-guards on the look out, having seen the Barque in distress sent word to the life boat crew.
    The life boat put out to to save those on board the Barque, but when they got out-side the piers in Dun-Laoghaire harbour, the gallant crew met their death by the boat capsizing. A second life boat set out, but had to return, owing to the high waves, and the roughness of the sea. The rescue of this illfated boat was accomplished by the Irish Lights Boat the Thera.
