- This locality is not suitable for the growth of good crops of potatoes, because the land is too high and cold.
They are sown about the middle of spring.
First the ground is ploughed and then harrowed and the drills are then opened.
In some gardens ridges are dug with a bought spade. These ridges are used instead of drills.
They are then manured and the seed is cut and sown about nine or ten inches apart. Then they are covered with a double-mould board plough.
In the summer they are grubbed and landed and then they are let grow in full.
