  1. Many useful herbs grow around this district.
Nettles which are cooked, and served like cabbage, are eaten in the Spring-time by most people to purify the blood.
If you are suffering hives, drink the water, which the nettles are boiled in.
A very good cure for warts, is to put the milk of the dandelion on them.
You can make a very nice, and healthy drink from the dandelion also.
It is boiled, and seasoned with pepper, and salt, it is then strained, and then it is fit for use.
If you are bleeding, a very good cure for it, is to chew rib grass in your mouth, until it is in a soft mass, and then rub it on the bleeding wound, and all of a sudden it will stop.
Water cress, which grows plentifully beside our rivers, and streams, is very healthy when it is used as a salad.
Flowerawn also grows here, and it is a very useful feed on a Summer's day for pigs, when it is mixed with bran, or clarindo, or any other meal.
