  1. Travellers are very numerous in our district. They call very often to our house. They are very poor and depend upon the people for food.
They sell small articles such as cans pictures, lamps laces and various small things. They make most of the articles, and buy the rest wholesale. People do not welcome them, especially the farmer as they rob hay, break into his fields and make gaps.
They also leave dirt behind them when they leave. They only stay one night in the same place, if it is a good place they stay longer. Some of them sleep in caravans, and others sleep under carts.
They never have food with them, they depend upon the goodness of the people. People generally give them bread and other things. Some travel on foot and others in caravans. They travel in bands.
They generally come to us in Spring.
