- In olden times people found cures for illness generally from herbs. One cure for faulty blood was an herb called wild celery which was boiled down to make a drink. The Irish people in former times were very superstitious and some of them believed that if a hairy caterpillar was found accidentally it was a cure for whooping cough if stitched in a little bag and tied around the neck of the person who was suffering from the cough. There is a well in Feltrim called Saint Brigid's Well. It is visited by people with sore eyes.
