- There is one 'holy well' in my parish and it is on the strand at Donabate. About 20 feet down in the rocks there is a little hole in a rock and the water comes out through this rock and forms a well. It is called the "chink well", and people with the whooping cough drink this water and it cures them. This well can only be visited when the tide is out.
People leave buttons, beads and pieces of cloth at the well but when the tide comes in it sweeps them all away.
