- "Our local Poet"
Poets were very rare in this district and hence when one turned his mind to poetry, naturally his name became famous in the district. A very old Balscaddan family of the name Dillon, produced a poet whose poems recently appeared in print and were eagerly read and treasured by the local people. His home was at Bridgefoot, a place well known in the old days of the stage coach. He emigrated to Australia and there published his book of poems called "Australian Shamrocks". The verses describe the scenes of his childhood at Bridgefoot, Bremore and Balscaddan. He is the author of that lovely book. "The Fingal Road" which gives a very interesting descriptions (sic) of his native Fingal.- Bailitheoir
